一、Fast Food
Fast food is becoming more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers.
There are several reasons for its popularity. First, it is very convenient and saves a lot of time. You just go into a fast food restaurant, order your food, and your food is ready in no time.
Second, its popularity is also attributed to its clean and comfortable environment, the excellent service, and the guaranteed quality of food.
However, in terms of nutrition, fast food is far from satisfactory. It usually does not compose a balanced diet and is low in nutritional value.
While cooking at home offers healthy and delicious meals your body needs. Fast food is only a good choice when you are in a hurry and turn to it once in a while.
二、The Importance of Being Kind & Polite
Being kind & polite means that your behavior shows respect for the rules that the majority follow, or in other words, act in a civilized way to avoid misunderstanding, friction & conflict.
There are no laws enforcing respect. Yet we cannot interact with others without some rules of behavior, rules that are set by some form of social consesnsus.
These guidelines represent what a majority of people consider acceptable & what they consider unacceptable.
For instance, many people talk at movies, or make boring conversations with their cellular-phones and so on. In fact their behavior is closer to that of animals than civilized individuals.
Remember, every little bit of kindness & good manners helps, namely, being polite & showing respect can give us an edge, & it is always a good idea to be kind & polite.
三、Why Do We Need English?
As the international language of diplomacy, commerce and technology, English is also the language of the United Nations and its agencies as well as of many other international bodies.
To communicate in these areas outside our own country, we have to be aware of its widespread use.
English must be taught in all our schools, not only for the better communication with the world but also that our students can go abroad to learn the techniques our nation so urgently needs.
We also need representatives who can command respect at the international conferences.
And if English is the common language of communications for all kinds of affairs, let us be as fluent and proficient in it as possible, for the sake of our own country’s advancement and prestige.
四、Knowledge Is Power
The saying “Knowledge is power” becomes universally accepted in that it reveals a simple yet brutal fact: It is the brain rather than sword that makes an individual or a nation strong.
The truth the saying speaks has been proven in man’s civilization, which is, to the greatest extent, accelerated by man’s knowledge in the form of science and technology.
A century ago, it took many-years to send a message to the other end of the world. Nevertheless, we can have it done in seconds today with just a click of a button.
All these achievements are due to the power of knowledge. Therefore, we should attach great importance to knowledge and keep learning throughout our lives.
